Configuring alarm thresholds

Set the organization low-inventory threshold or a tank-specific override from Network Operations, using current readings to verify the result. Use the labels and controls described below to complete this workflow in the current TankActive web app.

Where are low-inventory thresholds managed?

Open Network Operations and select Thresholds, then choose Tank low-inventory. This screen is permission-controlled. Some users can review thresholds but cannot edit them, and users with a limited scope may see only the Locations they are allowed to monitor. The organization default can be changed only by an account with permission to manage organization threshold defaults.

The table identifies the Location and tank, current level, effective Threshold %, Source, and available Actions. Source is Default when the tank inherits the organization value and Override when it has its own value. Below marks a current reading that is below the effective threshold.

How do I set the organization default?

TankActive does not prescribe a universal percentage in this help article. Product, delivery schedule, usable capacity, operating policy, and local requirements can all affect the appropriate threshold. Confirm the value with the person responsible for inventory and compliance at your organization.

  1. 1In Org default low-inventory, enter the percentage approved by your organization.
  2. 2Select Save default.
  3. 3Review tanks whose Source is Default. They now inherit the saved organization value.
  4. 4Use Below threshold to focus the table on current readings below their effective values.

How do I create or remove a tank override?

Saving a value on a row that currently uses Default creates a tank-specific override; it does not alter the organization default. Cancel closes an edit without saving. Use overrides for documented exceptions so future reviewers can distinguish them from the organization-wide policy.

  1. 1Find the tank by searching or filtering the table, then choose its edit action.
  2. 2Enter a percentage from 0 through 100 and select Save.
  3. 3Confirm that Source now shows Override and that the effective value matches the approved setting.
  4. 4To return the tank to the organization value, edit it and select Reset. Confirm that Source returns to Default.

What does a threshold change affect?

The threshold compares the latest tank percentage TankActive has received from the automatic tank gauge (ATG) with the effective value. It does not change ATG programming, delivery scheduling, tank capacity, or the underlying reading. Review the ATG time and Location reporting status before acting on a Below result.

Notification delivery is configured separately in Settings and, for authorized administrators, Network Operations Notifications. Use Export CSV or Export PDF to preserve the filtered threshold view. If Save or Reset is unavailable, confirm your permission and Location scope with an administrator or contact TankActive support.
